‘Little Napoleons’ in PMO strained my relationship with Anwar and federal govt, claims Sanusi

DESPITE reports of bad blood between both leaders, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has insisted that he has no personal beef with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In fact, Sanusi attributed his strained relationship with Anwar and the federal government on “Little Napoleons” in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

“I wish to advise the friends in PMO, don’t be ‘Little Napoleons’. I do understand how busy the leaders are, so most of the small matters are being handled by officers and these officers are acting like ‘Little Napoleons’,” he was reported as saying by NST.

Sanusi said this to reporters at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Seri Mentaloon today (April 27).

He was speaking about not being invited to the Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri Open House with the Prime Minister this Saturday (April 29) at the Raia Hotel and Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

“I am sorry if I am wrong, but that’s how I see things,” he added.

Sanusi went on to say that the “Little Napoleons” were out to severe ties between the state and federal government administrations.

“They have the intention to make their boss look good, but the way they do it may invite repercussions.

“For example, the fiasco over the LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023) invitation, the National Finance Council and the Aidilfitri open house.

“I am just being honest here. I hope the Prime Minister will listen to what I have to say. If the officers are not fit to be there, he should replace them,” he said, claiming that these individuals were the one handling invitations to the prime minister’s events.

“There is nothing personal between us. The legal suit filed by the Prime Minister against me (over a ceramah during 15th General Election campaign) is just a political matter.

“After he was appointed as the Prime Minister, and I the Menteri Besar, we have to have government-to-government dealings.” – April 27, 2023
