Bersatu leader denies funding man arrested for making racist comments online
Last week, police arrested Roslizal Razali over ‘comments that could trigger public order issues’.
Former foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah said he has been advised to lodge a police report.
PETALING JAYA: Former foreign affairs minister Saifuddin Abdullah has denied giving financial assistance to an individual who has been arrested by the police for allegedly posting racist comments on Twitter.
The Indera Mahkota MP was refuting several social media posts linking him to the person arrested by the police.
“I deny any allegations that say that I have given any financial assistance to Roslizal Razali or a ‘Dato’. I have nothing to do with what they did,” the Bersatu Supreme Council member said in a statement on Facebook.
Saifuddin, who is also Pahang Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief, said he has been advised by his lawyers to lodge a police report and take legal action on those who slander and spread untrue facts about him with the aim of ruining his reputation.
Last week, the police said Roslizal, 46, was arrested for allegedly uploading Twitter posts with “racist comments that could trigger public order issues”.
Meanwhile, the “Dato” referenced by Saifuddin was allegedly the middleman between him and Roslizal.
Police corporate communications chief A Skandaguru said Roslizal was arrested by the Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID) classified crime investigation unit.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(c) of the Penal Code.
“The suspect is also being detained under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network services,” he said.

I had like Saifuddin Abdullah even when he was UMNO MP for Temerloh as I considered him a 'moderate'. Then he became 'collateral' damage' in the 2013 ABU, losing to all people, Tantawi the Egyptian from PAS, wakakaka.
I was once again delighted when he joined PKR and won in 2018. But WTF, very much to my utter disappointment, he joined Bersatu together with Ass-binte following the Sheraton Move. He's now MP for Indera Makhota which has a 30% non-Malay voters in his constituency. He better watch out as UMNO or PKR may win back the constituency if he's associated with the PN brand of racism
