Viral ‘sexy clip’ has nothing to do with MIC, says Vigneswaran
The one-minute clip showed the woman with her midriff and the back of her blouse exposed.
PETALING JAYA: MIC has nothing to do with a TikTok viral clip showing a woman in saree dancing sexily to a Tamil song with the MIC logo at the top and another one asking people to vote for Barisan Nasional (BN), says MIC president SA Vigneswaran.
He said the woman in the video is not an MIC member and the party would be foolish to carry out an election campaign in this manner.
“It is an insult to our intelligence if our members resort to this. Obviously, this is an attempt by our enemies to smear us with this TikTok clip. I don’t wish to name anyone blindly but to resort to this cheap tactic only shows it could be our political rivals,” he told FMT.
In the one-minute clip, the woman, who is using the handle @gayathrimoorthioficial2, is seen clad sexily in a saree with her midriff and the back of her blouse exposed and dancing sensually to a popular song with a matching beat.
However, the original clip posted by the woman did not have any BN-related logos. The viral video had a BN logo next to a cross added as well as two small logos on each side that said Tetap BN (Definitely BN).
Vigneswaran said while the woman may not be responsible for the MIC and BN logos, it must have been superimposed by the party’s rivals as the 15th general election is around the corner.
“MIC will not resort to such cheap publicity campaigns and dirty tactics.
“At stake in GE15 is the future of our nation and the people’s wellbeing. We are working hard to defend our community and help uplift them. We don’t indulge in this kind of rubbish,” he said.
