Loke paints a vivid picture: Harapan will win, recapture Putrajaya
Now that the 15th general election war drums have been sounded, what could possibly happen a month from now, when polling stations are closed after the general election comes to an end on Nov 19?
Painting a vivid picture during his speech at the Pakatan Harapan convention in Ipoh yesterday evening, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke envisioned the coalition’s success in recapturing Putrajaya.
Expressing hope that the alliance would garner a simple majority of 112 seats in the Lower House of Parliament, Loke (above) also envisaged that opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim would be sworn in as the country’s 10th prime minister.
“Imagine this, a month from today on Nov 19, after polling stations are closed, we will be gathered together, like tonight, at a big hall in Kuala Lumpur.
“By 1am on Nov 20, an LED display in front of us where we can catch the live broadcast of Election Commission chairperson Abdul Ghani Salleh announcing that we won the 112th seat. Therefore, a Harapan government will be formed.
“Not long after, Harapan secretary-general (Saifuddin Nasution Ismail) gets a call from the palace to invite our president to have an audience with the King at 9am the following day to be sworn in as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister,” Loke declared.
The DAP leader said this in a rousing speech to rally some 7,000 party members and supporters at the Pakatan Harapan Convention held at the Ipoh Convention Centre in the Perak state capital yesterday evening.
Anwar Ibrahim speaks at the convention
Acknowledging that he is a dreamer and an ambitious person, the incumbent Seremban MP said his imagination could be a reality if every Harapan member unites as one.
“How shall we achieve it? In the past two years, Harapan has faced many challenges. After the ‘Sheraton Move’, we have been through so many hardships.
“It rests on the Harapan leadership, whether we want to use the (Harapan) logo or on the direction of the coalition.
“But tonight, I am happy to report that we only have one ‘commander-in-chief’ and that is Anwar Ibrahim.”
Therefore, Loke said, DAP would continue to throw its support behind Anwar, adding: “It’s not because he is Anwar, but because he is principled and consistent in the coalition’s struggle in fighting corruption and pushing for reforms.”
Anwar has been named as Harapan’s prime ministerial candidate for the forthcoming GE15 and is set to make the Tambun parliamentary seat his battleground.

Important point is, while one should not count any chickens before they hatch, Harapan must have plans to take on the reins of government if the electorate decides so..
ReplyDeleteThe shambles of 2018, a PH that was unprepared to govern if it won, a manifesto that it had no plans on how to implement, resulting in lost opportunities and sabotage by those who opposed it internally, must not be repeated.
