CORONAVIRUS | A now-deleted political Facebook post on the Health Ministry's official page has caused a storm, with many saying the ministry should remain neutral and apolitical.
The posting, which was briefly accessible last night, had shared an excerpt from the "Friends of Dr Adham Baba" page, which sought to portray the health minister as a man of action.

The Perikatan Nasional health minister wasn't busy talking.
Early in his first day in office, he immediately blocked tourists from Iran, Italy, and (South) Korea.
He continued to ensure good ties with China with the Foreign Ministry to help with the supply of equipment in Malaysia.
Can you see the difference?
... the posting read.
The original posting on the "Friends of Dr Adham Baba" page goes on to attack the previous Pakatan Harapan government as being ineffective at dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.
The post on the Health Ministry's page was taken down shortly after it was made after it elicited strong negative reactions to the politicking.
Health Ministry communications staffers told the media via WhatsApp that this was a technical error due to a "mistaken login".
However, a WhatsApp chat screenshot has gone viral on social media alleging that the posting was made on the orders of a senior aide to Adham.
A Health Ministry officer who had made the remark clarified with the media that the screenshot only showed a fraction of the conversation and that the information from the screenshot was wrong.
In a Facebook post this morning, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said the government should not emulate Harapan.

"Don't use official government channels including Facebook pages to troll or play with propaganda," he said without making reference to any specific post.
Syahredzan Johan, the political secretary to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, meanwhile, said that the Health Ministry should not engage in politicking.
"The Health Ministry page should not share posts which are clearly political.

"But the question is how did this happen? Is it because there is a politician who is now a page admin? Is there political interference in the ministry's corporate communications?" he asked.
Adham had previously been critically panned for suggesting that Covid-19 infections can be prevented by drinking warm water.
Similar advice had already been debunked by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah distanced the ministry from the advice, saying the ministry relied on, and used, evidence-based treatments only.

DeleteWTF fabrication ?
Ah Mok f-ed Bersih for calling the Moo government Backdoor.
To quote Ah Mok's caustic and uncalled for attack on Bersih.
"And WTF does BERSIH mean by 'Backdoor government' when that has to do with the Westminster parliamentary system, which HM the Agong upheld?"
Podah
ReplyDeleteKT forgot to point out Jibby is the Master of Pot of Calling the Kettle Black. Abuse of Ministerial power and taxpayer money for Self Promotion is second nature to Jibby. Menteri Air Suam used the MOH website, Jibby had his PR team create "Ah Jib Gor" using taxpayer's money.
ReplyDeleteWhy KT quick as a flash point out one but not the other?

Ex-aide confirms Najib signed RM246k cheque for ‘Ah Jib Gor’ Facebook, Chinese Weekly
29 Aug 2019
BY IDA LIM
KUALA LUMPUR, August 29 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak issued a RM246,000 cheque in an effort to provide “objective” information to Sino Malaysian community about his Barisan Nasional administration’s policy in 2013, the ex-prime minister’s one-time political secretary testified at the High Court today.
Datuk Wong Nai Chee, 50, said the cheque paid to tycoon Tan Sri Lim Soon Peng was intended for AD Network, which was the administrator of the “Ah Jib Gor” Facebook page account, as well as Akademi Kewartawanaan and Informasi Taima (AKIT) which managed a vernacular publication titled Chinese Weekly.
Wong said Najib had given him the RM246,000 cheque issued out to Lim’s bank account, and that Wong had then cashed in the cheque.
“If we were to issue personal cheque of prime minister, we don’t want that to be circulating on Facebook, so we would rather pay to someone whom we trusted so he could pay them for us,” he said in explaining the choice of Lim as a conduit for the funds.
This is not the first time Wong has spoken of personal cheques from Najib given to Lim for such purposes.
In Najib’s first trial involving the alleged abuse of RM42 million belonging to a former 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd, Wong testified that RM238,194 was given to Lim to also be channelled for those operating the “Ah Jib Gor” Facebook page and Chinese Weekly.
“Ah Jib Gor” was the Chinese nickname for Najib, which Wong translated in court as meaning “brother Najib”. Lim is founder of public-listed real estate company Titijaya Land Berhad.

A very shameless black pot calling a kettle black.
When Najib was PM. he made extensive use of Facebook to promote his political propaganda, especially the smokescreen on 1Malaysia, while he robbed the country blind.
