PETALING JAYA: The honorifics awarded by Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to former prime minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor have been revoked effective today.

In a statement, Selangor state secretary Haris Kasim, who is also the registrar of Selangor honorifics, said Najib’s titles were revoked after the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence in his SRC International case late last month.

Rosmah’s title was revoked after she was found guilty on three corruption charges at the High Court on Sept 1.

  1. A necessary formality, since Najib has exhausted all his legal appeals and is now a convicted prisoner

  2. Bravo to the Sultan!

This is the very same Sultan who dared to criticise Mahathir. I quote "Dr M not the type of leader who would allow others to do better. He has an inferiority complex and a deep hatred within him. He is just angry and his anger will burn the whole country. He is a very dangerous man."

And don't forget he told the Jakim and the Religious Minister off regarding the Bon Odori Festival.

But more than anything, does the withdrawal of the honours (though expected according to protocol) signal a Royal pardon is not in the works for Najib?
