PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin has advised Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders against letting Muda join the coalition, citing the insult made at the Johor polls and arrogant statements by its leaders.
“Looking at what happened in the Johor state elections and several arrogant statements by Muda leaders, the presidential council must make a smart choice and not bring in those that will only become a liability to PH,” he said, in a statement.
He said that if DAP and Amanah wanted to cooperate with Muda, they could offer their seats to Muda after negotiations between PH component parties have concluded.
“We don’t want history to repeat itself, like the insult we faced when Muda fielded a candidate for a seat that we contested,” he said, alluding to when PKR and Muda clashed in Larkin during the Johor state elections.
In the Johor polls, DAP and Amanah made way for Muda to contest in Puteri Wangsa, Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap and Bukit Permai. However, negotiations between Muda and PKR fell through.
Razeef went on to describe the secret negotiations between some PH leaders with Muda as insolent, adding that all decisions should be made at PH presidential council meetings.
He also questioned the statements by Sabah Muda chief Amos Thien, who is still holding out hope for cooperation with Warisan while also hoping to join PH.
Warisan had previously said it would not work with Sabah PH in the 15th general election.
On Tuesday, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party had begun preliminary discussions with PH on joining the coalition.
The Muar MP added that the party was targeting no more than 15 seats in the upcoming general election since Muda planned to be part of a coalition.
