KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 ― The Election Commission (EC) today announced January 16, 2021 as polling day in the twin by-elections of Gerik in Perak and Bugaya in Sabah.

Nomination day will be on January 4 and early voting on January 12.

The Gerik parliamentary seat fell vacant following the November 16 death of its incumbent from Umno, Datuk Hasbullah Osman, from heart complications. He was 63.

Bugaya was similarly vacated a day later on November 17 following the death of its Parti Warisan Sabah assemblyman Manis Muka Mohd Darah at age 65. She had been admitted to a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu earlier for kidney problems.

    1. The criteria is - PN MP die - no emergency. Else PN lose yet another seat.

PH MP die - emergency, so no by-election. PH reduce numbers.

The real Emergency 1948, I recall ,Malaya was under existential threat of being overrun by Commie terrorists.

      Now...Emergency is just political bullshit.

  2. Gerik PN sure win, must have by-election. Get back MP. Similarly Bugaya PN got chan to win back, lose oso never mind, Sabah still safe, with 6 NON-ELECTED assemblymen.

Batu Sapi Warisan sure win, so declare emergency, no by-election, handicap opposition 1 MP.

So Yiddin may not ask Agong to declare emergency, Menteri Air Suam will instruct the recently promoted and indebted TAN SRI Noor Hashim the obedient Civil Servant to come up with some reason why no need emergency like in Batu Sapi.
