Nur Jazlan: Annuar Musa Should Quit Umno If He Cares So Much About Bersatu

Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed says that Tan Sri Annuar Musa should leave Umno if he insists on supporting other parties more than he defends his own party.

This comes days after the Johor Umno deputy chairman claimed that Annuar had lost the support of the Umno grassroots and always appeared to be defending Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia as if he were the latter party’s spokesman.

“If he doesn’t think about Umno anymore and acts as a spokesman for someone else, he might as well leave and contest with his new ‘friends’,” Nur Jazlan said when contacted Monday (Nov 23).

He also took a jibe at the Federal Territories Minister’s announcement of a new ban on the sale of hard liquor in sundry and grocery shops, convenience stores and Chinese medicine shops in Kuala Lumpur.

He accused Annuar of being ultra-Malay, which does not reflect the overall image of Umno.

“When he made that kind of statement, it also hurt people in my (former) constituency.

“Umno is not all Malay-centric because there are also members who are moderate and neutral,” said Nur Jazlan, who is former Pulai MP.

Earlier, Nur Jazlan claimed that the Ketereh MP was a dead figure in Umno’s fight.

In retaliation, Annuar made it known that he had won Ketereh in Kelantan in the 14th General Election for Umno whereas Nur Jazlan had lost his seat.

Nur Jazlan later dared Annuar to contest in Pulai, which he had defended for three terms since 2004 before losing it to Pakatan Harapan’s Salahuddin Ayub in 2018.

The Ketereh seat is made up of about 96.7% Malay, 1.9% Chinese and 0.08% Indian voters while Pulai is made up of 49% Malay, 39.2% Chinese and 10.3% Indian voters.

Separately, Nur Jazlan voiced his doubts on whether Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is the choice candidate for premier in the next general election as he currently could not prove his support in Parliament.

He said Muhyiddin’s support should have been first tested with a vote of confidence before Budget 2021 was tabled.

“He doesn’t even dare to test his majority in Parliament. Until he does so, there is no point of tabling the Budget and getting it approved,” he said.
