KUALA LUMPUR: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman should lodge a report with the authorities if he has evidence he was offered money to leave the country, said MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
He said what the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia youth chief had claimed was “just another political gimmick” that often emerges when a general election draws closer.
“I would read it as an entertainment news. Very entertaining,” he told reporters after launching the “Digital Transformation @ Take your business to greater heights” workshop here.
“If this young man has the evidence, he should just report it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the authorities,” said Dr Wee, who is Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
On Monday, Syed Saddiq claimed during a press conference that he was offered RM5mil to leave the country, and that his family had been harassed.
He said he had decided to defer his Masters in Public Policy at Oxford University in Britain for the coming academic year.
Evidence? WTF for?
If he has evidence he would have already reported to MACC with it, after a press conference of course, as per the alleged Altantuyaa murder SD, but this time with Mahathir heading the conference.
But allegations without evidence is far far tastier just like fresh ulam dengan sambal belacan. You wouldn't want to cook them up (pun unintended) with stupid evidence.
Besides, we Malaysians don't give a shit about silly inconvenient evidence.
When our faultless 'intuition' (ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning) tells us we are right, then we are right without nonsensically stupid 'evidence' or facts getting in the way, unless of course those 'evidence' and facts support our already set-in-concrete beliefs and convictions.
That's our way of believing and accusing, minus inconvenient evidence, logic or reasoning. We aren't called goofy gullible guppies for nothing.
Now, now, don't get so sensitive just because it could conceivably touch on your Dear Leader....
ReplyDeleteNo, Syed Saddiq may not necessarily have any grounds to report anything to the MACC. In fact he may get hauled up for making a malicious or defamatory report, which could be the main reason why he hasn't bothered.
MACC only acts on corruption, and even then usually Not For Action if it involves the "Right" people.
Offering money to someone to leave the country, in itself , is not corruption , or even any sort of crime in the Penal Code.
It is only corruption if it involves inducement for taking some action in one's official capacity that they would not normally do. Or for gain related to one's official capacity. Purely personal or private decisions are not corruption.
Other crimes may be criminal intimidation if the person or someone close to him is threatened with violence or other consequences.
Such offers of inducement are usually verbal , with no evidence left behind.
wakakaka, you're leaning to twist and turn every which way with my post - well done, maddy would be most proud of you
DeleteThanks to Malaysian Official 1's Billion Dollar "donation" in his personal bank account, as well as Lim Guan Eng's superbly-negotiated bungalow purchase price, Malaysians have in recent months received a very detailed education in what constitutes corruption Or Not.
Deleteallegations you mean
