Killers of children

When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations ... then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy - Deuteronomy 7:1-2, NIV

However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breaths. Completely destroy them ... as the Lord your God has commanded you - Deuteronomy 20:16, NIV

Malaysiakini - Final toll of Gaza war: 1,330 dead, 5,450 wounded

Malaysiakini reported that:
Israel's war on Gaza killed 1,330 people, at least half of them civilians, and wounded 5,450 others, Palestinian medics said on Thursday in a final toll of the offensive.

One-third of the death toll were children.

The Israelis have certainly lived up to the words of their God.

As I listened, he said to the others, "Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter old men, young men and maidens, women and children, ... Then he said to them, "Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!" So they went out and began killing throughout the city - Ezekiel 9:5-7, NIV

  1. It is indeed saddening that children are killed from activities of all sides in this catastrophy.

Can we just get all parties to start talking ? Nobody gets killed.

And in the mean time, no land grabbing or shooting of rockets into their neighbours compound.

Political manifestos have to change on both sides of the divide. But this is a rather complex issue since Fatah & Hamas are also enemies but joined in their opposition to Israel.

I speculate that even if Israel is obliterated from the face of the earth and taken over by the Palestinians, there will be more bloodshed once Fatah & Hamas get going ... more children will get killed again.

  2. Israel has been and is still refusing to talk with a democratically and legitimately elected Palestinian government. It has conspired with USA to marginalised Hamas and prop up Fatah, but only for its own interest ... because when Fatah's Arafat was around it sponsored (financially and with arms) Hamas to dilute Arafat's influence with the Palestinians - the old British's 'divide & rule' tactic.

Basically, Israel does not want a sovereign Palestine, but one this is splintered into enclaves under the control of its military, just as Gaza and the various fragments in the West Bank are today.

  3. Hundreds of thousands of innocents were killed by the americans in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan ect and yet you choose to dwell on Gaza. Are you afraid of the CIA death squad doing a number on you?

  5. ... just as Israel is refusing to recognise, let alone talk to Hamas.

Only one person can (hypothetically) force Israel and Hamas to talk, and that's Barack Obama. I've qualified his potential in this regard as only 'hypothetically', because you can bet Israel will be playing strongly on the ultra conservative pro-Israeli Christian Right and Jewish neocon Zionist lobbies (eg. AIPAC) to intimidate Obama into not doing so.

Bottomline, Israel doesn't want to talk meaningfully with the Palestinians because Israel doesn't want peace.

An example is Bush's 'road map to peace', which got nowhere (just as I predicted) because the Israelis kept sabotaging it.

  6. KTemoc: "... because when Fatah's Arafat was around it sponsored (financially and with arms) Hamas ..."

Are you sure about this ? Or is it 'just unsubstantiated allegations'?

According to Khaled Meshaal, the leader of Hamas, "Unfortunately this tale is told by some Arabs, Palestinian Arabs. It is an attempt to distort the image of our movement."
