'We have a name' - PN promises to reveal CM candidate before polling day
MALACCA POLLS | Perikatan Nasional's chief minister candidate will come from Bersatu, Muhyiddin Yassin confirmed with reporters today.
The former PM said the coalition has already agreed to a name, but declined to reveal further, saying that it is part of PN strategy to only announce it much later.
"We will announce it soon. For sure it will be before the polling day," he said during a press conference in Bemban, Malacca this evening.
"We already decided. And it is given that if Bersatu gets the greatest number of seats, and is given the trust by our partners including PAS, the chief minister will come from Bersatu.
"That much I can confirm."
Bersatu is contesting 15 out of the total 28 Malacca state legislative assembly seats, while PAS and Gerakan are contesting eight and five respectively.

kt notes:
Eff-ing double standards. In GE14, when Bersatu was part of Pakatan Harapan which won the Perak state election, the state polling outcome was:
a. DAP 7 ADUNs
b. PKR 3 ADUNs
c. PAN 2 ADUNs
and PPBM only 1 ADUN
Why then was the most treacherous Azumu appointed the MB when PPBM won only 1 seat - the MB should have been Dr Bari from DAP?
PUTRAJAYA: No disciplinary action will be taken against Perak PPBM chief and menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu over his controversial claim of his “lone battle” with certain factions in DAP in the state, party chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.
He went on to defend Faizal, saying that Faizal’s comment was made while campaigning for the Tanjung Piai by-election, and he was explaining to “very aggressive fishermen” who had the perceptions that the DAP was in control of Pakatan Harapan.
“So he explained that while he was only one person (from PPBM) in the Perak administration, and while the rest were from the DAP, he was still the menteri besar and was in charge of the state,” Mahathir told reporters after chairing the party’s supreme council meeting here.
In a video, which made its rounds on social media recently, Faizal was seen discussing with a group of people about how he had to face DAP on several issues, including Malay land.
He also said he was thankful that some “friends in Umno” did not reprimand him in his efforts.
Faizal has since said that his comments — which received condemnation from DAP and PKR leaders — had been taken out of context.
Mahathir went on to say that there were times in Pakatan Harapan when either DAP, PPBM and PKR was “in control” of a state.
Ahmad Faizal, who was present at the press conference, reiterated that his remarks had been taken out of context.
He also said that he had explained the matter to PPBM leaders.
When asked if he needed to apologise following calls by PKR and DAP leaders to do so, Faizal shot back: “Did I do anything wrong?”
Yes, I know the DAP had no balls but I would like Moo-Moo to explain this flabbergasting imbalance given that he has stated his policy of giving the MB/CM to the party which wins/won the most ADUNs, contrary to PPBM's original policy (di sokong kau-kau olih Lim Snr and Jnr).
