2 weeks to ruling on Najib Razak’s case - Then rejoicing or disappointment for Tuk and his anti-kleptocrats

Najib to know fate on SRC appeal on Dec 8

The Court of Appeal is set to deliver its decision on Najib Razak’s bid to quash his conviction and sentence in the SRC International case.

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal is set to rule on Najib Razak’s RM42 million SRC International case on Dec 8.

A statement from the chief registrar’s office said the decision will be delivered at 9am.

The court had heard Najib’s appeal to quash his conviction on seven charges of abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust (CBT) over SRC International funds amounting to RM42 million from April 5 until May 18

The panel, chaired by judge Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil, had reserved its decision. The other judges were Has Zanah Mehat and Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera.

High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali sentenced Najib to 12 years’ jail and fined him RM210 million after finding him guilty of the seven charges in July last year.

Najib was accused of abusing his power as the prime minister by giving government guarantees on SRC International’s RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Inc.

He was also charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and three money laundering charges in relation to RM42 million belonging to SRC International, a former unit of 1MDB.

  1. The Big Question is ...Will the Najib case be allowed to be judged purely on the legal merits and evidence, or will it be back to the Bad Old Days of "Guided Judicial Rulings" notoriously under Atuk ?

The Government may no longer have Atuk in it but it is still a struggle to get the Atuk Disease out of Government.
