Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former governor Bank Negara, was appointed by then-PM(7) Mahathir as one of his 'Eminent Persons' of his exclusive special advisory Council (advising the Mahathir government on economic and financial matters).
The CEP was seen by many Malaysians as paralleling (and perhaps even superseding the powers of) Mahathir's Cabinet in the PH government.
