Muhyiddin’s image all over Melaka because we’re proud of him, says PN man

AYER KEROH: A Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader has defended the wide use of the image of its chairman, Muhyiddin Yassin, for campaigning in the Melaka state election, saying they are “proud” of his achievements.
At a press conference today, PN Melaka election coordinator Badrul Hisham Shaharin also said this was normal as Muhyiddin was PN’s leader at the national level.
He was commenting on their opponent’s criticisms that the former prime minister’s face was being plastered all over Melaka rather than that of their candidates.
Badrul, better known as Chegubard, said the use of Muhyiddin’s image appeared “more prominently” because PN’s opponents – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) – appeared to be too embarrassed to put up posters of their leaders.
“Maybe Umno and BN are too ashamed to post the photos of their president or chairman because of his court cases,” he said, taking a dig at Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“In the Malay areas, PH is perhaps embarrassed to put up Anwar Ibrahim’s image because he isn’t popular,” he claimed.
Badrul also said PN members would be lodging police reports on the use of former Melaka chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali’s image outside of the Lendu constituency he was contesting in.
He said this was an offence under the Election Offences Act 1954 as only the images of a party president and national or state party leaders were allowed to be used in all constituencies.
