KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — Barisan Nasional (BN) should finalise its list of potential candidates for the post of Selangor mentri besar and show it to the public for approval to prove its seriousness in winning back the country’s richest state, said Dr Khir Toyo.
The former Umno Selangor MB noted there was a general perception that BN lacked strong leaders in the state, adding that part of the reason was because no one knew who were the preferred candidates.
“They should already be having a top 10 list, and if Umno and BN can showcase these candidates, and their credentials and get public feedback before the next election, at least people have an idea of who will lead in Selangor, who will replace Pakatan and Azmin Ali,” he told Malay Mail Online when contacted.
Khir Toyo is right you know, because up to now we have no firm idea who may be the next BN MB of Selangor, that is, assuming BN could win the the next state election.
OK, most people mention the name of Noh Omar but only because he is the head of UMNO Selangor. But he hasn't have an impressive track record other than to bodek Najib, wakakaka.
There is no doubt Khir is rubbing it in for being blamed by UMNO as the sole cause of BN losing Selangor in 2008, but to be fair to him, he couldn't be blamed also for BN losing Kelantan, Kedah, Perak and Penang in that same year.
Maybe Khir Toyo can now award Noh a broom, wakakaka again.
But it's a relevant and serious point by Khir Toyo. It's the same serious deficiency for Pakatan Harapan in not having a designated PM or shadow cabinet.
Using all sorts of excuses to avoid naming a clear-cut PM-designate is a humongous political incompetency which does not merit the trust of intelligent voters - note 'intelligent' voters, wakakaka.

But such a significant remiss of political competition is an indication of the instability of a party or coalition, to wit:
(a) UMNO in Selangor and BN in Penang (wakakaka), and
(b) Pakatan as a federal coalition.
There are two possible reasons, namely:
(a) a lack of strong personality like Lim Guan Eng in Penang and formerly Alhamdulillah Pak Haji Nik Aziz in Kelantan and Peh-Mor in Sarawak, or Anwar Ibrahim in the case of Pakatan Rakyat, and
(b) the fear of in-fighting among component members of the Pakatan coalition because there is no strong leader (agreed by all as in the case of Anwar Ibrahim previously) to moderate the greed and dissatisfaction among the tenuously connected allies.
Apart from the PM post, everyone especially Azmin and Maddy-for-his-representative-or-son wants to be the Finance Minister and/or Home Minister.
Nowadays, with Internet and a host of info-disseminating apparatus, UMNO doesn't care about the Malay teachers network and their grass root contacts and thus to f**ks with the Education Ministry. Besides, supporters are now more conscious or even crazy of money.
The Gods of Wealth and Brutal-Power are far more respected.
There are no good leaders from the BN in Selangor because the dentist screwed up all his patients. And in the process had his minangkabau mansion confiscated. To add salt to injury,he had to spent time eating nasi with kuah ikan.
ReplyDeleteIn fact there are no good leaders in Selangor pakatan too.Nobody consider Azmin as a good leader, because he inherited the post by default. All the young good leaders with good potentials are suppressed in the lower ranks, and not allowed to prove their potentials. Many smart young professionals shunned politics and are either in the private sector or thinking of migrating or have already migrated.
That is the reason Umno Selangor have no good candidates for MB in Selangor.Just because they do not have good candidates for Selangor does not mean that their present MB or potential candidates in other states are good. They are just as stupid and corrupt as ever.
But we have to give credit where credit is due.Lim Guan Eng outshone all his fellow CM's and MB's.Inspite of all the BN machinery against him,Penang have been able to perform better than all the other states, maybe except Selangor.Selangor being the host of the old capital city Kuala Lumpur, is already an advanced state with modern infrastructures in place decades ago.
There is no BN MB designate for Selangor for the same reason Pakatan has no shadow cabinet.
ReplyDeleteThere is very little chance of winning a majority in Selangor and in the Federal Government for BN and Pakatan in the two separate situations.
In such a situation , naming the individuals would just be a subject of ridicule and/or a kind of hex as well.
There is no comparison with Shadow Cabinets in developed democracies, which are respected functions of the Parliamentary system, and even receive taxpayer funding for their work , assigned office space and a modest supporting staff.
A BN - PAS Coalition "may" win a majority in Selangor, but no one dares to openly go to the electorate with such a coalition.
DeleteAnyway, the shadow line-up for such a coalition in Selangor would be the subject of such horse-trading it would be impossible to name in advance.
