UMNO's Muhamad Farid Saad and Norlela Ariffin |
Penang Umno has expressed shock that PKR has distanced itself from its Penanti assemblyperson Norlela Ariffin after she thanked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for acting on an illegal factory in Bukit Mertajam.
The action led to the arrest and five-day remand of state executive councillor for environment, welfare and caring society Phee Boon Poh, as well as the factory director and manager.
Umno Pulau Betong assemblyperson Muhamad Farid Saad said PKR's attitude towards Norlela was "disappointing" as she merely wanted justice for her constituents who had to put up with the ill-effects from the 15-year-old factory.
"It is not right or fair for her to be sidelined just because she thanked MACC for their action on an issue she has raised since 2015," Farid said in a statement today.
"PKR, a party that says it fights for all, should support Norlela in her struggle and not condemn her or ostracise her for doing the right thing to defend the well-being of her people," he added.
Farid was responding to state PKR chief Mansor Othman, who said the party stood with the Penang government on this matter.

I have to give credit where credit is due, namely, to UMNO for being consistent in backing Norlela Ariffin.
The previous occasion was when Norlela (with 4 other PKR ADUN) abstained from an UMNO motion to stop what the Penang Pakatan government was (and would be) doing, to wit, reclaiming land from the sea.
As I penned in a previous post, abstaining in an UMNO motion to forestall what the Pakatan government has been doing is the same as voting against Pakatan or voting for UMNO.
Thanks to her report to MACC, Phee had the weekend dressed in MACC orange work-suit and free nasi curry.
Norlela seems to be unaware or forgetful she is a PKR ADUN, and thus, IMHO, would be better off in UMNO. Maybe her heart already is?
She made a report on an illegal factory that was still operating. Neither Phee's name or his position was mentioned in her report.
ReplyDeleteShe has no influence or decision making authority with MACC.
Saying Phee Boon Poh's arrest and remand is thanks to her is too long a draw of the bow.
Might as well blame Najib for this..come to think of this, he DOES have direct authority over the MACC ??
there is no doubt that MACC (together with RoS and police) have acted on instructions from UMNO. but wasn't the report by Norlela the trigger action, and her thanks to MACC an abhorrent action on the part of a so-called Pakatan member who should have known what the state government was doing, in the same way in her traitorous land reclamation abstention?
DeleteI still fail to see what is wrong with making a complaint report about an illegal factory.
DeleteHow can it be wrong ?
What is the matter with you ? Pure partisanship ?
nothing wrong under normal circumstances, but not when the Pakatan state government is dealing with the illegals in a meaningful way, illegals left by a BN government
Deletehmmm since 2008? really meaningful.
Deleteumno is just borrowing a rake to spread the manure, she is a closet pas sympathizer
ReplyDeletebec the factory is not near to yr home, thats y u can take yr own sweet time to correct what is wrong, n blame it on the previous administration. moreover phee is very rich according to lge, he work or no work, got result or no result make no diff. the only diff brw umno n dap is therefore one is poor n sure corrupt, the other one is rich so sure no corrupt using lge logic, n both oso sit on it until there is a change of govt n start all over again? n label others as traitor would help?
ReplyDeleteJust what the *&^%s is DOE doing when it knows of the non-compliance even during the Penang BN rule? Don't have the courage to act alone, must wait for MACC and other federal agencies?
ReplyDeleteNow they say to DAP, uh huh, caught you?
Sorry most learned doctor, even if you are doing your duty, there is no cure for stupidity!
Maybe as a doctor, you can cure herself first!
