against God’s will, says

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang says that in Islam, leadership is sacred and not a temporary position to be passed to the next individual for personal gain.
Hadi said that many who embraced the idea had forgotten or chosen to ignore the fundamental principles essential for achieving success both in this world and the afterlife – that Islamic principles must guide the nation’s leadership.
“This is because leadership is a sacred trust from Allah, not merely a temporary position to be passed around for individuals to enjoy before being handed to the next for personal gain,” he said in a Facebook post.
On Sunday, DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said his party wants the government to amend the Federal Constitution to include a two-term limit for the prime ministership.
He added that this proposal was not aimed at undermining Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, but rather to cement it as part of his legacy in the top post.
Anwar has expressed support for the proposal but said consensus among political parties is needed.
Hadi warned that the greatest deviation from the path established by the prophets is when Muslims allow themselves to be influenced by non-Muslims.
He said the affairs of the Muslim community must be governed solely by those who profess the religion and meet the necessary qualifications.
“Governing a nation is a divine responsibility entrusted to humankind and it demands leadership rooted in faith. The legitimacy of such leadership is forfeited when the leader betrays his people,” he said.
The Marang MP also said throughout history, Islamic caliphs have served until their last breath, fulfilling their duty with unwavering commitment.
“Allah decreed that the prophets, who conveyed His message, also held leadership roles. After their passing, their responsibilities were assumed by those who upheld their teachings,” he added.
Hadi, however, said PAS remains open to cooperating with non-Muslims who are “not extremist” and who can accept Islamic leadership in Malaysia.
He claimed that the liberal factions dominating the political landscape were actively working to dismantle the system that safeguards Islamic rights.
