Super cheap egg prices lift Mat Sabu’s social media popularity to an unprecedented high

ONCE trolled for underperformance coupled with lack of industry know-how, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu a.k.a. Mat Sabu’s social media rating has skyrocketed in recent times especially in the eyes of the pro-Madani fanbase.
This came about as the prices of eggs have dipped ‘super-duper low’ amid a stabilised chicken feed price (which could be the most crucial factor), lower egg consumption during the fasting month and reduced exports to countries like Singapore which eventually causes an oversupply in the market.
And don’t forget the Mat Sabu effect!
“The Madani government era is truly amazing,” shouted Madani keyboard warrior Amer Hamzah (@amer7211) on X.
“There is no anti-inflation Jihad Force. Only one Minister. His education is not high. But his wisdom defeated the entire organisation of the Muhyiddin and Ismail Sabri era.”
Hebat betul zaman MADANI.
Takde Pasukan Jihad Inflasi.
Hanya seorang Menteri.
Pendidikannya takde la tinggi.
Tapi kebijaksanaannya mengalahkan seluruh organisasi zaman Muhyiddin dan Ismail Sabri.
Harga telor murah giler macam ni.
Bekalan tak putus2 sana sini.
Itulah Abang Mat Show more
Added Amer Hamzah: “The price of eggs is now crazy cheap. The is endless supply everywhere. That’s the Abang Mat @MSabu_Official whom we love.
“The walaun (staunch PAS supporters) group are sure to feel hurt. It’s normal for them to never be grateful. The PMX-led Madani government @anwaribrahim is on course to extend one more term!”
Editor’s Note: A check by The Star at sundry shops in Johor Bahru found a tray of 30 Grade E eggs selling for as low as RM4, down from RM8.50 or over a 50% drop.
Grade D eggs have dropped to RM4.80 per tray, from RM9 while a tray of Grade C eggs is now priced at RM5.50, down from RM10.
For larger eggs, the price is less significant with Grade A eggs now priced at around RM11.50 per tray (down from RM13) while Grade B eggs have dropped to RM9 from RM10.50.
Self-proclaimed political analyst Rangga Is Back (@alif_haidar) went a step further to credit PMX Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the ultra-cheap egg prices.
“RM5.99 for a tray of eggs. No mistake, no misreading. Now is not the promotion season but the prices seem to be on sale,” penned the astonished digital creator.
RM5.99 utk sepapan telur.
Tak silap mata, tak silap baca.
Sekarang bukan musim promosi, tapi harga macam tengah sale.
Soalan dia: Kenapa baru sekarang telur murah?
Apa beza Anwar dgn PM sebelum ni?
THREAD:
“The question is why are eggs so cheap now? What is the difference between Anwar and the previous PM?”
Rangga Is Back proceeded to delve on the economic law with a Madani slant to justify the rare cheap egg phenomenon.

“Prices go down as supply overwhelms demand. But the supply will not increase if the cartels hold the industry at ransom and the government allows this to happen,” he argued.
“(This explains why)eggs were rare like a collector’s item in the past.”
Well, even Housing and Local Government Minster Nga Kor Ming jumped into the bandwagon to heap praises on the Madani administration – while presumably scoring some brownie points – over the super cheap egg prices.
“Let the facts speak. Ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, the country’s inflation remains stable and low,” praised the newly-minted DAP deputy chairman.
Biar fakta bicara.
Ayuh, kita jalan teruih!
“The prices of essential goods, including eggs, are now cheap and affordable. The Madani government will continue to work hard to maintain the well-being of the people. Come on, let’s march forward.”
Whatever the case is, a digital creator highlighted that hawkers, traders and restaurants are not pursing a fair deal for consumers by slashing their price tags.
“Has the price of roti John come down?” he asked. – March 27, 2025
Harga roti john dah turun ke belum?
A mere stunt or not, at least Mat Sabun brought down the price of eggs ahead of Raya.
