“Party-hopping has become customary in political alliances!” - tell me something new

“Party-hopping has become customary in political alliances!” said peeved MP

THE political turmoil occurring during the Melaka state polls is evidence that DAP is a party that values principles over power, which had led to the party rejecting kleptocrats from being part of the party since day one, said an MP.

DAP’s Lim Lip Eng said that the party had been firm in their stance to reject the fielding of two ex-UMNO representatives for the upcoming Melaka state election.

“However, the opinion of the party did not align with that of other component parties in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and now it is as if party-hopping has become customary in political alliances,” he lamented.

According to the Kepong MP, DAP’s opposition of political ‘frogs’ had started several months following PH’s victory in the 14th General Election (GE14) back in 2018.

Even then, DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai had warned top leaders from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) against accepting party-hoppers, Lim elaborated.

“This is not only an unhealthy practice but one that would only affect the political stability of the country. Furthermore, PH had just formed the Federal Government back then, and top party leaders turned a deaf ear to such warnings.”

Lim went on to point out that DAP’s stance remains the same for the Melaka polls whereby it rejects the party-hopping culture despite the candidates contesting on a PH ticket.

“This time around, DAP’s focus during the Melaka state election is to help principled PH candidates. We will not be campaigning for or promote the defectors.

“PKR and Amanah are responsible for the recruitment and nomination of the individuals in question and therefore, they need to explain to the rakyat the rationale behind accepting these defectors as their candidates,” he remarked.

PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced on Saturday (Nov 6) that the coalition will field two ex-UMNO members – including a former chief minister – as candidates in the Melaka state election with the two running in state seats allocated to PKR and Amanah.

The former UMNO assemblymen are Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, who would contest the Asahan and Pantai Kundor seats under the coalition’s banner.

DAP’s “unhappiness” over PKR and Amanah’s “acceptance” of two ex-UMNO defectors had led to the absence of DAP leaders from the unveiling of candidates for the Melaka polls on Saturday. – Nov 8, 2021

kt notes:

Ever since DAP kept mum a la kuai-kuai when their beloved Atuk brought in frogs galore into the PH govt, the die had been cast for frogology, so why whine, whinge and wank now.

Recall what I said - anything that Evil Old Man a.k.a King 'Minus' touches/touched turns/turned to sh*t - yes man I told you so, and so did Ramkarpal, Sangeet and Ronnie Liu.
