Paedophilic tendency: Netizens rue “too lenient” 5-month jail only for Harith daughter’s tormentor
“FIVE months for threat against a minor? Wow Malaysia Darul Pedofilia!”
Such was a comment passed by a netizen after the Kuala Lumpur’s Magistrate’s Court sentenced 31-year-old Izzuddin Md Salim to a five-month jail and fined him RM2,000 for issuing death and rape threats against renowned stand-up comedian Harith Iskander’s 12-year-old daughter.
There were other like-minded comments to the court report by BFM News (@NewsBFM) post on X as netizens were stunned by the deemed lenient punishment on the construction worker.

Izzuddin had admitted to using ChatGPT to generate the threats which included an image of Harith’s daughter that read “I’m after your daughter” and “Police will protect you but won’t protect your daughter”. This was sent to Harith’s ex-wife and manager Dr Jezamine Lim.
Having apologised to the victim’s family for his first offence, the accused has further stated in his plea that he had no other intentions apart from “only intended to toy with Harith’s emotions” in the WhatsApp message that Jezamine came across while in a restaurant at 8.50am on Jan 23.
The offence falls under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, a fine or both.
Interestingly, many commenters tended to be fascinated by Izzuddin’s physique as he looks to be twice his age of 31.
Some were even dumbfounded that he had to resort to ChatGPT to get his act right.
Nevertheless, a commenter cautioned that netizens in other social media platforms are in fact backing the guilty party.
Another advised Harith to file a civil suit against the culprit for income loss.
Recall that the threat issued by Izzuddin against the comedian’s daughter had led to a joint decision between Harith’s family and Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) to cancel the comedy show “Punchline: Harith Iskander 35 Years of Laughter” slated for Jan 25 despite Harith having spent months preparing for the gig.
The threats stemmed from backlash over the ham sap kopi controversy sparked by a Facebook post by Harith on Jan 18.
