Amanah Youth pleads with Dr M to stop attacks on Anwar
Amanah Youth has appealed to Dr Mahathir Mohamad to cease his attacks on Anwar Ibrahim and to discuss the opposition’s new direction with Pakatan Harapan.
PETALING JAYA: Amanah Youth tonight pleaded with Dr Mahathir Mohamad to cease his attacks on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, adding that the two leaders were vital in realising the “grand coalition”.
The wing’s chief, Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin, said for the “grand coalition” to materialise, the opposition must push for a truce between the former prime minister and the PKR president for them to come together.
“Hence, we are appealing to Tun Dr Mahathir to cease his attacks on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and to discuss the opposition’s new direction with Pakatan Harapan.”
Shazni said Mahathir’s attacks on Anwar only complicated matters.
Mahathir had slammed Anwar yesterday, calling him untrustworthy over unfulfilled promises, particularly his claim of having a strong and formidable majority to topple the Perikatan Nasional government.
The Langkawi MP said this when asked to respond to Anwar’s statement that PH could collaborate with any party, even with Mahathir, to form a “great, grand coalition” as long as they were aligned with the group’s principles.
PKR Youth has since urged PH to “move on” from any plan to work with Mahathir following his latest salvo against Anwar.
The wing’s chief, Akmal Nasir, said PH must realise that Mahathir was merely riding on the “grand coalition” idea to divide and conquer, a strategy which he said Mahathir had employed many times in the past.
