I never met Umno leaders, says DAP’s Loke on Annuar’s latest claim
Loke Siew Fook refused to comment when asked if Annuar Musa was lying in making his claims.
PETALING JAYA: DAP organising secretary Loke Siew Fook has denied Annuar Musa’s claims that he had met with Umno leaders to discuss political cooperation between the two parties.
“No, I have never met any Umno leaders to discuss any cooperation between Umno and DAP,” he told the media briefly as he left a Pakatan Harapan (PH) meeting at PKR’s headquarters here today.
When asked if this meant that Annuar was lying about his claims, the Seremban MP declined to comment.
Annuar, who was recently removed as Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general, had repeated his claim that several Umno leaders had met Loke to discuss political cooperation between the two rival parties.
In an interview with TV Pertiwi, Annuar said the leaders included members of the Umno Supreme Council, the party’s highest decision-making body. He stopped short of naming them.
“I do not wish to reveal (their names), it is enough that I received information which has been verified,” the Ketereh MP said.
“This has already been admitted by the person involved, that outside of the party’s decision, there were top leaders who were involved in the meeting with Anthony (Loke) from DAP.”
Annuar had made the claim last week in a tell-all press conference after his removal as BN secretary-general.
Subsequently, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng accused Annuar of making up stories about an Umno-DAP cooperation.
