The Finance Ministry has transferred the RM40 million grant it pledged to the education trust fund managed by TARCian Alumni Association (TAA), to be used for the benefit of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) and its students.
This was announced at a press conference called by TAA and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in Kuala Lumpur today...

The composition of the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College’s eight-member board of trustees violates rules set forth by the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Education Ministry, and the Finance Ministry, claims alumni group TARCian Alumni Association.
This is because all eight members are either current or former MCA senior leaders.
“These individuals from a single political party holds ultimate control over the TARC Education Foundation (TEF), thus violating the regulations of the CCM, MOE, and MOF - the composition of the TEF board of trustees shall maintain at least 50 percent of the total number of trustees being third parties having no connection with TEF or any of its founders without any political background,” it said in a statement today.
It claimed that this had been the case since 2013 when TAR College was upgraded to university college status.
......TAA legal advisor Kenny Ng said this was a condition imposed by the CCM on its incorporation, by the MOF for its tax-exempt status, and by the MOE for its licencing as a private university.
“Such a condition imposed by the government and the law is the norm for any foundation meant for a public purpose like TARC Education Foundation on the grounds of public policy considerations.
“Otherwise, a foundation with a tax-exempt status can be easily abused as a vehicle for tax evasion, money laundering activities, and even criminal breach of trust.
“Suffice to add that currently someone renowned and powerful is charged in court accused of abusing his foundation for some of these crimes,” he said.
Ng also noted that the government had funded TAR UC’s precursor, TAR College, from 1969 to 2013 as a public institution. Despite this, not a sen was paid to the government when it was privatised and taken over by MCA in 2013.
As a private institution, it is also technically not entitled to any public funding, he said.
“Hence the need for at least the aforesaid 50 percent independent representation in its board of trustees for public policy consideration of transparency, checks and balances, accountability and good corporate governance since TARC Education Foundation is the trustee and custodian of public money and assets by the billions in ringgit terms,” he said.

aiseh kt it is not fair to hemtam all 42 because of atuk's 2 bosom buddies (according to you that is), let's just say both suddenly rediscovered their pebbles are still intact and gave atuk some high decibels, what then? will that make you happy? will that make najib happy? will it turn back time? will it undo the mess? after these revelations things will be a much different ball game wakakaka unless both father and son have gone senile

Look at it this way, umno has had been the major political force within the bolihland administration scene for years. Even now, in its deprecate & house-on-fire stage it still commands the largest # of MP.
Given the chastity & number of the ketuanan freaks, zombies & blur-sotong amongst its hive, it SHOULD have been able to do what it wants.
The reality is - umno has to compromise! Not only dulu, kini dan selamanya!
Politics r dirty & Machiavellian acts - those who insist in swallow all in its plays WoNT last - a clear sign of umno current marching demise from its traditional 80/20 trade-offs.
DAP has to play the same game - been in the same cesspool! More so it has been long tagged as the Chinese chauvinistic party opposing everything melayu & Islam!

DeleteThese two were in opposition back in the 80s and 90s, in jail for ISA, sedition and what-not. They were leading the charge against Toonsie’s many scandals: BMF, Forex, MAS, Maminco, Perwaja, MISC etc etc, scandals that KT love to regurgitate and vomit....ha ha ha...
Anwar, on the other hand, was in Toonsie’s cabinet from 1983 to 1997, culminating in him being Finance Minister and DPM. Was he also involved in these scandals? Did he have knowledge but looked the other way? Can he possibly be blameless as DPM?
Then KT says he is angry at Father and Son for turning traitor and supporting Toonsie pulak in GE14, and forgetting about all his past scandals.
Well, didn’t Anwar do the same? Didn’t he “bagi ruang” for Toonsie for 2 years? He oso never brought up Toonsie’s past scandals.
So why now KT can accept Anwar as PM but so adamant and insist Father and Son retire and leave politics?
I think something else at play here....hmmmm..
