Floods worsen slightly in

KUALA LUMPUR
The number of evacuees at evacuation centres in flood-hit Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah continued to rise as of 8am today compared with yesterday.

In Johor, the latest state to be hit by floods, the number of victims increased slightly to 372 from 364 reported last night. The victims in Kota Tinggi are being housed in three relief centres.

Sarawak remains the worst affected state, with the number of evacuees rising again after several days of decline. A total of 5,384 people are now taking shelter in 30 relief centres, up from 5,125 last night.

There was an increase in evacuees in Sibu and Mukah, but the number of victims declined slightly in Bintulu.

In Sabah, Keningau became the latest district to be hit by floods late last night, after Kinabatangan. A total of 319 people were forced to evacuate their homes, up from 228 last night.
