Cops nab teen over sexual assault attempt in mosque

The police confirmed that the suspect involved in an alleged sexual assault attempt on a child in a mosque in Batang Kali has been detained.
“We received a police report at 8.19am today about a viral video on social media on the incident which occurred in a mosque in Batang Kali.
“We have arrested a 19-year-old man to assist in our investigations,” Hulu Selangor district police chief Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said in a statement today.
A CCTV footage of a man attempting to sexually assault a child at a mosque went viral this morning.
The suspect, clad in a yellow T-shirt and skullcap, was seen sneaking into the women’s prayer hall before carrying away the girl by grabbing her from the back.
Based on the CCTV footage, the man found the girl praying alone at the back of the congregation, leaving others unaware of what had happened.
The suspect then tried to sexually assault the child but fled after she fought back.
On that note, Faizal said the police are investigating the case under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
“The suspect will be brought to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for a remand order application to assist in our investigations.
“Anyone who has any information concerning the incident is urged to contact the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters at 03-60651021 or approach any police stations nearby,” he added.
