Police report filed against
Eric See-To over Najib’s
FB post
PKR’s Fahmi Zainol says the posting on Najib Razak’s Facebook page, which Eric See-To is purportedly the administrator of, amounts to contempt of court.
PKR central leadership council member Fahmi Zainol said the Facebook post dated Jan 7 questioned the verdicts delivered by the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court, which found Najib guilty of corruption.
“The post also criticised the trial judge, which clearly constitutes contempt of court,” Fahmi said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police headquarter here.
Fahmi, a Penang executive councillor, also accused the administrator of Najib’s Facebook page of repeatedly trying to undermine the integrity of the judiciary.
“This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the court’s reputation and credibility, which amounts to a serious offence equivalent to contempt of court,” said Fahmi, who is also Pantai Jerejak assemblyman.
He said See-To must be held accountable for the post, adding that the former Barisan Nasional strategic communications deputy director previously admitted to being one of the administrators of Najib’s Facebook page.
Fahmi added that the post in question was identical to another article written by See-To and published on the same day by Malaysiakini as a letter.
“Such attempts to discredit the judiciary are excessive and must not go unpunished,” he said.
