Summary

  • Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh warns Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria of legal action after he wrongly claimed she is the daughter of YTL Corporation’s founder.

  • Razman also accuses Yeoh of using her ministerial position to spread Christianity in Malaysia, repeating claims from her book ‘Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey’.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has responded to Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria’s apology for erroneously describing her as the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder Yeoh Tiong Lay.

Taking to X, Hannah warned legal action against Razman who yesterday apologised for his error made during a recent 30-minute speech, with a one-minute excerpt of it containing the claim going viral.

“Razman’s speech that accused me of many things went over a minute long. Wait for a letter from my lawyer.

“Slander cannot be permitted and normalised, particularly by a man of religion,” said the Segambut MP.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Razman and is awaiting a response.

‘Spreading Christianity’

During his speech at the Ceramah Kebangkitan Rakyat in Parit, Perak on Jan 26, Razman also repeated claims that Hannah’s appointment as a minister would help her further her alleged goal of spreading Christianity.

“This position will enable her to spread Christianity to our children. Are we not alarmed? We must be aware,” he said.

Razman reiterated previously denied claims based on the term “God’s ambassador” which Hannah used in her book “Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey”.

“(Former inspector-general of police) Musa Hassan clearly stated that in her book, Hannah claims to be the ‘messenger of God’ and reveals her intention to bring her friends to spread Christianity in Malaysia.

“She also plans to use her political position to further this mission,” Razman added.

Previously, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Hannah’s defamation suit against Musa, who had accused the DAP lawmaker of attempting to turn Malaysia into a Christian nation.

She has since filed an appeal and lodged a police report regarding the case.

This was not the first time Razman had to apologise to DAP leaders.

Last December, Razman was compelled to apologise to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming for falsely associating him with a procession in Teluk Intan where Chinese delegates waved the Chinese national flag.
