PKR representative Lee Chean Chung has expressed his disagreement with the call for legal action against Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria.
The PKR communication director acknowledged that Razman had already publicly apologised for his remarks, in which he claimed that Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh was the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder, Yeoh Tiong Lay.
“For Yeoh, now is the best time to respond to these malicious assumptions with grace, showing the true values of forgiveness and nobility, especially in the spirit of the Lunar New Year celebrations,” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Lee (above) accused Razman of attempting to shift some of the responsibility to the news portal Malaysiakini by suggesting that the outlet had manipulated his comments about Yeoh, who is the Segambut MP.
Earlier today, the DAP lawmaker warned of potential legal action against Razman, arguing that his recent 30-minute speech had made several accusations against her.

In addition to falsely claiming that Yeoh is the daughter of Tiong Lay, Razman also reiterated previously denied allegations regarding the term "God’s ambassador," which Yeoh had used in her book “Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey”.
Lack of understanding
Elaborating, Lee suggested that the issue stemmed from a lack of understanding of the diverse cultures within the country.
“Structurally, this stems from the way some Malaysians live, rarely interacting with or engaging in cross-cultural activities. This group includes people from all backgrounds: Chinese, Malay, Indian, Dayak, and Kadazan.
“We must realise that the polemic attempted by Razman, if not addressed properly and constructively, will only serve to divide and distance rather than bring Malaysians closer together,” he explained.
Lee advised Razman to fact-check his statements and take time to understand the culture of others before making public comments.
“This is not the first time he or other PAS leaders have made defamatory accusations against others,” he added.
Last year, Razman was forced to apologise to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming after mistakenly linking him to a procession in Teluk Intan, where Chinese delegates waved the Chinese national flag.
Just days before Razman’s recent remarks, another PAS representative, Siti Mastura Muhammad, deposited RM830,000 in damages into the account of a firm representing DAP leaders, who had successfully sued her for defamation.
The Kepala Batas MP had previously alleged that Lim Guan Eng, his father Lim Kit Siang, and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok were linked to Chin Peng and former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
