daughter accuses him of
raping her for past 10
years
Hilir Perak police chief Ahmad Adnan Basri says the 56-year-old was arrested today.
Hilir Perak police chief Ahmad Adnan Basri said the man was arrested at 1.45pm today after the 21-year-old victim lodged the report yesterday.
The woman, who works as a factory operator, alleged that her father first raped her when she was 11.
Adnan said the last incident allegedly occurred on Jan 17.
“The victim claims she was frequently threatened by her father not to reveal what had happened to her to anybody,” Utusan reported him as saying today.
Adnan said the victim finally fled to stay at a friend’s house and was later advised to lodge a police report.
“Based on investigations, the suspect had divorced his wife when the victim was six years old.
“The suspect is being remanded for seven days until next Wednesday to aid investigations,” he said.
Adnan said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape, which provides for eight to 30 years’ imprisonment and no less than 10 strokes of the rotan if convicted.
