Nazir Razak’s daughter bursts on IG with a missive against her father’s recent wedding

YOUNGER brother of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Razak, married a businesswoman known as Yati Zainudin on Nov 17 and this made headlines across the media world in Malaysia.

Now, it is his daughter who has penned a missive against him for taking another wife and for allegedly dismissing his first wife and children from the wedding.

Nazir married Yati who is the co-founder of the cosmetics brand Bluemolly.

The happy news was shared by Najib’s son Norashman through a photo uploaded to his Instagram story. Most people noticed the absence of his first wife and that of his children at the lavish wedding.

Meanwhile, Nazir’s daughter Marissa wrote on Instagram, saying the publicity of her dad’s recent nuptials has pushed her brother Arman and herself to their limits, noting that her parents just got divorced.

“It has hurt us very much to see our mother treated with such callousness & disregard. I thought that second marriages (& in the case of this woman’s third marriage) are usually quiet and discreet affairs – after all the timing was only two months since my parents’ divorce was officially confirmed in court.”

She lamented that her dad had a grand and high-profile wedding, “which showed no consideration to the feelings of his children or of our mother, his wife of 30 years.”

She also said that none of them were informed of the nuptials, as they learned about it from guests and social media posts.

“My brother Arman and I watched the live videos of the event that guests were posting on their stories. I was also shocked to see my dad’s hurtful and oblivious Instagram post where he stated ‘I got married today!'”

Moreover, Marissa also revealed that Nazir’s lavish wedding is a painful back-story that has shocked Arman and her. She also accused him of not paying the financial settlements to her mom.

“We are shocked at the lavishness of the recent wedding, with several hundred guests and a Grammy-award-winning band flown in from overseas, especially since my dad is late in paying the financial settlements he promised mom.

“As one guest commented about the wedding, “it was almost as if his family didn’t exist”.”

The best man at the wedding was Tan Sri Tony Fernandes who delivered a speech on the occasion.

Marissa noted that his speech was “so crass and in such bad taste” that some guests were so disgusted they left the ballroom.

“Maybe I should not be surprised as Tony is one of the friends who enabled and assisted the affair while my parents were still very much together and married. The other enabler is Tan Sri Kamal Badawi who has posted and praised the wedding,” she wrote.

She also alleged that the wedding was born of infidelity and deceit, having an affair behind the mother’s back while she was very ill during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The woman in question (as well as her sisters) was a friend of my mom’s. As a child, I remember Mum lending “auntie Yati” her baju kurung for the woman to wear at her dad’s funeral. I remember mum doing favours for auntie Tini and auntie Shireen including lending them our car and helping their brother get a job at CIMB,” she further added. – Dec 3, 2023
