PETALING JAYA: Nizar Najib, the son of former prime minister Najib Razak, was among the 10 Pahang executive councillors (exco) sworn in today.
The 10 exco members, comprising eight from Barisan Nasional (BN) and two from Pakatan Harapan (PH), took their oaths of office before the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah at 3pm, Berita Harian reported.
BN’s Benta assemblyman Soffi Abd Razak, Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad (Kerdau) and Fakhruddin Arif (Bebar) were also part of the exco in the previous state administration.
Meanwhile, Nizar (Peramu Jaya), Razali Kassim (Muadzam Shah), Johari Harun (Pelangai), Sabariah Saidan (Guai) and Fadzli Kamal (Dong) were the new faces from BN.
Sim Chong Siang (Teruntum) and Leong Yu Man (Triang) are the PH exco members in the state government.
Also present at the ceremony was Pahang menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
The recent general election saw no coalition securing the 21 seats needed for a simple majority in the state legislative assembly. Perikatan Nasional won 17 seats while BN claimed 16 and PH eight.
BN and PH eventually agreed to jointly form the state government. The same formula was used by the two coalitions to form the state government in Perak.
