BN, PH file report against Sanusi over ‘unnatural govt’ remark

KULIM: The Padang Serai chapters of both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) have jointly filed a police report against PAS election director Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly saying the current unity government was an “unnatural government” (“kerajaan luar tabii”).

Sanusi allegedly made the remark at a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ceramah in Taman Mutiara here two days ago.

Padang Serai Umno committee member Samsuddin Ahmad said it was unbecoming for Sanusi to make such remarks as a menteri besar.

Samsuddin accused the PAS man of insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who had called for the formation of a unity government.

“I beg the menteri besar, please repent,” he told reporters outside the Kulim district police headquarters (IPD) after filing the report.

Meanwhile, Padang Serai PH acting chairman Abdul Razak Salleh pointed out that the Sanusi-led state administration was technically a “backdoor government” since it involved defections from ex-PKR assemblymen.

Sanusi is the latest PN leader to have come under fire for making remarks about the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Azman Nasruddin, the coalition’s candidate for the Padang Serai seat, was previously criticised for calling the unity government “kerajaan zina”. Under Islamic law, “zina” is the crime of fornication.
