MCA leader questions ex-IGP’s candidacy as Rembau candidate

IN LIGHT of an announcement made by Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) that retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador will be fielded as a 15th General Election (GE15) candidate in Rembau has irked an MCA leader claiming his failure to track down the ex-husband of M. Indira Gandhi.

MCA Deputy Secretary General Datuk Dr Pamela Yong in a statement questioned, “As the IGP with a strong background in police intel given his experience in the Special Branch, why did he fail to execute the Federal Court’s order to track down the ex-husband of Indira Gandhi who for years had shown his third finger to the civil court’s order awarding custody to the mother.

“In fact, despite the court order on custody, why did Hamid Bador even attempt negotiations for joint custody on the return of Prasana Diksa to her mother who long has yearned to see and embrace her long-lost daughter? Even worse, in his retirement, Hamid blamed NGOs for being unable to give Indira her most deserved happy ending of a reunion,” she expressed.

Previously, the former IGP had said the interference from Indira Gandhi and other NGOs had hindered his efforts to find her daughter Prasana Diksa who is with her ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah.

“I feel Hamid may have neglected his duties and what he should have done. His statement and attitude is disappointing.

“I don’t understand why he needed such a long time to solve the case. If he had made so much progress as he claimed, why didn’t he meet me?” she had previously questioned in an FMT report.

Next, Yong as MCA Wanita Sabah chairperson calls the authorities to question the ex-IGPs ignorance of the apology letter by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s appointed Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas to the Sulu invaders.

“As the nation’s top cop, how could he be oblivious or remain silent on the reinstatement of cession monies with arrears to enemies of the state who tortured his own fellow men in blue?” she explained.

“Has Hamid no sympathy at all to the memory and next-of-kin of the 8 policemen (3 of whom were also from his Special Branch) and 2 military members who were slain in the line of duty in defence of Sabah. The cops were tortured to death in the ambush-slaughter at Semporna and battle at Kampung Tanduo,” she lamented.

Adding further she said, “Having announced his loyalty to Dr Mahathir and the above examples, Wanita MCA Sabah will not be surprised if Hamid will epitomise the infamous moniker by PM4 and PM7 (Dr Mahathir) that “the Manifesto is not the Bible.”

On Monday (Oct 17), Negeri Sembilan GTA deputy chairman Mohamad Jani Ismail stated that Hamid Bador originally from Rembau has been shortlisted as a candidate for the constituency. The former IGP had retired from the police force in May 2021, and has a farm in his hometown.

GTA comprising of Pejuang, Berjasa, Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) and the National Indian Muslim Alliance Party (Iman) that was formed on August 4 will be contesting under Pejuang’s banner as it has yet to be registered by the Registrar of Societies (RoS). – Oct 19, 2022
