Ex-Menteri Kipas Redzuan to run for Alor Gajah again, even without Bersatu

Redzuan to run for Alor Gajah again, even without Bersatu

Alor Gajah MP Mohd Redzuan Yusof has vowed to defend his parliamentary seat even if his party Bersatu does not field him again.

"I will defend my seat, regardless of whether I receive a mandate from our party president or not.

"They have their own strategy to ensure our party wins. We have seen that during the Malacca election," Redzuan (above) was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.

The Bersatu supreme council member made his electoral debut during the 2018 election, winning the Alor Gajah seat on a Pakatan Harapan ticket.

He was immediately made a minister in the Dr Mahathir Mohamad administration but relegated to a special functions minister in the Prime Minister's Department (minister with no portfolio) during the Muhyiddin Yassin administration.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob did not include Redzuan in his cabinet.

‘Cosying up to grassroots’

Redzuan is also an independent non-executive director of government-linked Boustead Holdings Bhd.

The lawmaker denied that he has kept a low profile after Ismail Sabri came to power in August last year.

"I’m not keeping silent politically. I'm just quietly cosying up to the grassroots.

"We know the situation with the grassroots now and this country has to be put on the right track so the future generations will benefit," Redzuan said.
