PETALING JAYA: Muafakat Nasional (MN) remains intact unless Umno declares the dissolution of the alliance, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said while Umno leaders, such as president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had been at odds with PAS, there had been no official declaration that the pact was over.

“So long as there remains some life to the alliance, it will continue to be in place,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.

“For the situation to change, Umno has to declare MN is dissolved. However, this has not happened.”

Zahid had previously described PAS as “two-faced” and dismissed the possibility of working with the Islamic party again for the next general election as partners in MN.

Tuan Ibrahim said with the next general election looming, PAS was open to discussions for further cooperation through MN.

He said the alliance could be a platform to address a wider scope of issues rather than politics alone.

“MN can be a platform to address the interests and issues of Muslims,” he said. “It shouldn’t only be for politics but a broader scope of issues too.”

  1. The only observation is that it shows how desperate PAS is clinging to UMNO's skirt.

PAS knows that with Bersatu, tgey face annihiliation. With MN, there is a bit of hope because they will probably be seat allocations.

Of course UMNO knows the momentum is swinging its way and GE15 looks a sure thing. So, why share with another party?
