Malaysiakini:
Selangor Sultan: Inaccurate to claim PN is backdoor gov't
Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today said allegations that the new Perikatan Nasional-led federal government was installed through a coup or is a backdoor government should cease.
"Recently, we have witnessed a change in federal government from Pakatan Harapan to Perikatan Nasional.
"I have personally followed closely the change in power which was very carefully carried out by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who followed meticulous and open negotiations in line with the provisions of the Federal Constitution.
"The allegations that the formation of the federal government is a backdoor government or a coup is inaccurate and it should stop as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is empowered to use his discretion as provided by the law," he said during his officiating speech for the new Selangor state assembly sitting for the year.
He added that even though Selangor is still led by a Harapan government, he hopes for close cooperation with the federal government.
"I don't want that due to different governments and political ideologies, Selangor is sidelined in social and economic development," he said.
The Selangor Sultan said he understood that in a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, royal institutions should not be directly involved in politics and should be above politics.
"However, as the Sultan in my state, I have a responsibility to advise YBs not to engage in actions that will be a loss for my people," he said.
He urged elected representatives in Selangor to maintain political stability in the state.
"The people are tired and anxious at the political turmoil affecting the country since after the 14th general election until today.
"Politicians are often seen quarrelling over endless political issues that they forget their real responsibilities entrusted by the people in governing the state for the good of the people.
"We know how the people are facing hardship due to rising cost of living, global economic downturn, declining ringgit, shrinking job opportunities resulting in increasing unemployment and finally the spread of Covid-19 affecting the world," he said.
As such, the ruler said he needs assemblypersons to focus on resolving people's problems.
In his speech, the ruler also emphasised on the importance of the environment.
He noted that the state government will be setting up recycling centres in all local government jurisdictions and also selected traditional villages.
He also said the state has shown focus on planting trees in cities to cope with climate change.
The ruler also wants the import of used plastics into Selangor to stop.
The Selangor Sultan also noted the incidents of water pollution in the state and emphasised the importance of joint action by all agencies.
He also highlighted the dry season in October and warned against open burning.

whats the diff btw twist n spin?
ReplyDeleteThe current Federal Government is not the product of a General Election. A bunch of power-hungry idiots, encouraged by a hateful octogenarian, plotted to suborn the elected government.
ReplyDeleteI will continue to loudly proclaim this a Backdoor / backside government
No way! Nope it is not a backdoor government. TDM did not want AI to be PM. Altercation at PH presidential meeting. TDM resigned. PPBM left PH. PH government collapsed. Interim PM appointed. Interim PM wanted a Unity Government. But Unity Government was rejected by PKR & DAP & PAN, and nominated AI as PM. PPBM nominated TSMY as PM and this was supported by BN and PAS. TMSY got the numbers. His majesty announced appointment TSMY as PM 8. After this, Interim PM decided not to introduce a Unity Government, and PKR & DAP & PAN flip-flopping and desperate, decided to dump AI and nominated TDM as PM. But PPBM had already left PH. So, how? Interim PM requested last minute audience with His Majesty on the morning before swearing in of new PM 8. Interim PM was not given audience by His Majesty. Accordingly and constitutionally, TSMY became PM 8 of Malaysia. Tell me: What backdoor government?
DeleteAt GE14, it was clearly a faced off, BN & PAS on one side, Muhyiddin & Azmin with PH on the other side. The rakyat had decided on that basis, voted in PH and rejected BN & PAS. Now by merely re-grouping, bypassing the rakyat, the losers BN & PAS became the winners, if Muhyiddin & Azmin were with BN & PAS at GE14, would they be voted in? tell me BN & PAS didn't came in from the "back door"! Tell me Muhyiddin & Azmin didn't betray the rakyat! I rest my case.
ReplyDeleteKataks ought to be outlawed, but these politicians would rather die a thousand deaths than to have such anti-hopping law implemented.
DeleteIt is absolutely correct to say that by mere re-grouping, and bypassing the rakyat, all facilitated by these si kataks merrily lompat melompat, we now have a backdoor government, which will stay in power, cemented by manipulations of postponing the first Parliament sitting to 3 months down the road so as to buy more kataks to bolster its initial fake numbers to suddenly, hey presto.."we actually have a very comfortable majority !"
Kataks maju la !
