CM Penang Chow's cool and calm response to Putrajaya's mafulat

Malaysiakini (brief extracts):

Chow not interested in Zuki's apology, Gerakan asks if exclusion is revenge

by Susan Loone

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the Covid-19 pandemic is not a "political issue", and that he was not interested in the chief secretary's apology.

Yesterday, Government Chief Secretary Mohd Zuki Ali apologised after chief ministers and menteri besars of pro-Pakatan Harapan states were left out of a meeting to coordinate efforts to combat Covid-19.

Guan Eng in disguise?

wakakaka

"I'm not interested in answering this as it is not a political issue, it is about public health, the fate of Penangites and the future of Malaysia.

"It is better for us to focus on how to overcome this pandemic," Chow (above) said at a press conference in Komtar today.

"Even without any order, Penang had already taken stringent measures, and we support the state health department, while they also support us," he stressed.

Zuki had been criticised by activists who urged for action to be taken against him.

Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong (above) asked: "Is this revenge? Human lives are not important? The citizens of these five states do not pay taxes?"

CM Chow Kon Yeow has handled well the Muhyiddin mafulat-ish malu-mangling of the Covid-19 coordination meeting. He comes out smelling of distinguished ministerial elegance, not driven into a childish raging diatribe against Putrajaya, and yet at the same time, making the Chief Sec Mohd Zuki looks small - well done Chow!

I doubt Lim GE could have provided such a cool and calm response, wakakaka.

Gerakan's Oh has been a bit more aggressive and blunt to the point.

  1. Guanee has been keeping rather quiet these last few weeks so there was nothing for KT to hentam him about. Now this non-invitation of CM Chow why must KT take a cheap shot. Hatred...?

"I doubt Lim GE could have provided such a cool and calm response, wakakaka."

But this rubbish blog fails to give credit where credit is due.

While Muhyiddin, Azmin and Toonsie were plotting and scheming for a coup de etat, Guanee the 30 year provisional accountant cum bookkeeper was diligently at work preparing the RM20 billion stimulus package. Right up till Sunday Feb 23, the night of the coup.

Now wasn't Guanee COOL and CALM...? He could have dropped everything and joined in the political circus.

Then after Toonsie had resigned and Guanee no longer bookkeeper he (Guanee) generously gave the stimulus package to Toonsie, by that time a one-man government, to announce for implementation. Azmin had the gall to claim credit for it.

Now today the PN government is implementing Guanee's package as if it was theirs. Shameless. If Guanee had simply stopped working on the package and joined in the politicking, today the PN government would be lost at sea, with a banker as novice FM, and precious time would be wasted coming up with a stimulus plan. But not to worry, it's already done, thanks Guanee, the nation owes you a lot.

  2. The 20 billion stimulus package that the PN government is now implementing was prepared by a man UMNO-PAS-MCA-MIC-GPS claimed was a provisional accountant, book-keeper with no power, because much was stripped and given to the Economic Affairs Minister.

Well, if that is the case please scrap that package and come up with your own. Your 1 million Tabung COVID-19 does not count as a stimulus package.

LGE hopes measures by PH govt will help people get through Covid-19

YEOH GUAN JIN /18 MAR 2020

PETALING JAYA: Measures put in place by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will go some way in helping the people get through the Covid-19 crisis, according to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

He noted that Malaysia was now facing an “urgent economic crisis” thanks to the outbreak that has already been classified as a global pandemic.

In a message to mark the 54th anniversary of the party’s founding, Lim expressed hope that the RM20 billion stimulus package, introduced by PH before it lost power this month, would be implemented quickly.

They include the three-month loan moratorium for businesses and workers affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

He pointed out that those who would be most severely affected were the working class, the B40 as well as the small and medium businesses.

“As government imposed a travel ban, the 300,000 Malaysians who travel daily to Singapore to work will be adversely affected,” he said. He added that they should be offered a financial lifeline.

Lim said it was heartening to note that many of PH’s policies such as the decision to expand the MySalam free insurance to cover medical conditions including Covid-19 would be continued.

Others included the decision to bring forward the Bantuan Rakyat payments from May to this month and the reduction of employees’ EPF contributions to 7%.

He said Malaysians who had to travel would now enjoy a lower toll rate.

“I hope these legacies of the PH government will ease the burden of the ordinary Malaysian while we await the new government’s additional action to save Malaysian businesses and 15 million workers,” he added.

  4. Chow Kon Yeow is too lembik.
A lot of Penang people say they don't know what he is doing, what is his contribution or value-add.
Lin Guan Eng, friends or foe were well aware what he was getting to.
