Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming has been named as Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat, setting the stage for a potential showdown with Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong.
The announcement was made by Penang caretaker chief minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in Bandar Baru Teluk Intan tonight.
Lim said if Nga wins and Pakatan takes over power in Putrajaya, he will be appointed a federal minister. [...]
I didn't realise Lim Guan Eng (when in Pakatan's new government after GE14) will possess such powerful authority to appoint anyone a minister?

I didn't realise Lim Guan Eng (when in Pakatan's new government after GE14) will possess such powerful authority to appoint anyone a minister?
“To win Putrajaya, we have to win in as many parliamentary seats as we can, including in those where the MP is a senior minister. In Teluk Intan, the MP is a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“Although this minister is useless, he is still a minister. So to defeat him, we must field a capable leader. We must field a candidate whom we DAP can nominate and appoint as a minister in a Harapan government,” Lim said in his announcement that was attended by thousands of people.
So, according to Lim Guan Eng, it has to take a Pakatan 'capable' leader to defeat a BN useless minister?
Thus, by Guan Eng's logic, does that mean a useless BN minister is better than a normal Pakatan leader, and that by further logical sequence, a normal BN minister is far superior to a Pakatan 'capable' leader?
Hmmm, was Guan Eng smoking"something" when he said that?
But he most certainly needs a better speech writer.

Lim Guan Eng's logic is impeccable.... only you can't accept it.
ReplyDeleteIf Pakatan wins power in Putrajaya, the Prime Minister will have the authority to submit the list of Minister appointments to the Agong.
DAP obviously will insist on its fair quota, and Lim Guan Eng will have a major say in DAP's choices for minister.

Hai yah! Resorting to semantics and sarcasm to criticize is not my cup of tea nor to soldiers heading for battle.
ReplyDeleteLet's add more for the Fun, ok.
An opponent surnamed Mah shows it is just to be a Horse to be elected and ridden on.
Nga on the other hand meeans A poker crew (1 to 10) or a Vietnamese name popular with girls.
With a letter s after Nga ie Ngas means :Who give a Shit".
Refer urban dictionary for those unfamiliar with these words.
Okay lah that was a slip of the tongue. We all know he as the General Secretary of DAP will be the one to nominate (not appoint unless of cause PH change mind to nominate him as the PM instead wakakaka) DAP's share of ministers provided of cause PH won GE 14.

Some people do consider the individual candidate rather than the party.
ReplyDeleteSo in a situation where one party is represented by a "Heavyweight" , and the opponent is a relative unknown, the Unknown opponent may be at a built-in disadvantage.
So putting up party "Kings" vs the opponent's "King" sometimes makes very good sense.
