If Russia Takes Odessa They Will Keep It Permanently
The situation in the Ukraine can be described as follows. Ukraine, the UK, France and parts of the EU are talking very tough. This is because they have no other option. Plus talk is cheap. Just open your mouth and talk. But on the ground the Ukrainian forces are getting mauled to pieces. According to Colonel Macgregor the Ukrainian dead are 8 to 10 times the Russian figures. Russia has lost about 160,000 killed so far. The Ukrainian deaths are multiples of that number.
With the Russians it is the opposite. Publicly and to the West the Russians dont sound as tough. But on the ground the Russian Army is wiping the steppes with Ukrainian soldiers. It is a massacre. Some day the British and Zelenskiyy will be held accountable for deliberately sending so many hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to their deaths.
- The Americans and the Russians are in detailed negotiations now.
- The Russian position is very simple.
- As of now, they say they will keep those FOUR Russian speaking and Russian majority oblasts or provinces which suffered genocidal ethnic cleansing by Ukraine, especially by the Nazi Azov battalion.
- They want the Nazi ideology outlawed and erased from Ukraine.
- They want Ukraine to be demilitarised.
- And Ukraine cannot join NATO.
Failing that, the Russians say their army will keep taking more Ukrainian territory and what they take militarily they will keep forever.
President Putin has spoken to a private meeting of Russian industrialists (which invariably leaked out) where he said that Russia will take the port of Odessa in the far south, Sumy and Kharkov in the far north, and Dnipro in the middle. You can see the map.
But this is not the final map.
There are a few other factors that are still playing out. The EU has been talking big about money. They have mentioned giving another 5 billion Euros, pledging 40 billion Euros etc. to Ukraine. But nothing is materialising. The money is not coming. Largely because President Trump is not sending anymore new American weapons. The US has said they will try to replace destroyed Patriot missiles "from existing stocks in Europe". There are not many. This also means that what Europe gives will have to come from their own defense stockpiles.
Italy has said point blank that they will not engage in war against Russia. Neither will Spain, Hungary and some other countries. The British are talking tough but their entire army can fit into Wembley Stadium. Russia has 1.3 million active armed forces and two million reservists. The 1.3 million active armed forces have now seen combat.
There is also something else going on. The Ukrainian army is inching closer to total collapse. They have lost about a million men plus thousands of tanks, artillery cannons, trucks and other weapons systems all destroyed or captured. With the US (the main benefactor) now cutting off further help, the Ukrainians are doomed. The Ukrainian troops are approaching the ends of their tethers.
The easiest option now will be to accept the Russian offer for ceasefire and long term peace.
Feedback from the Ukrainian population about the war is not allowed to be discussed or reported. The Russian people on the other hand want President Putin to be more aggressive. Russians are volunteering in record numbers to join the Army and defend their country. The Russian people want Mr Putin to take Kiev the Ukrainian capital as soon as possible.
Mr Putin however is playing a game of strategy. He wants a comprehensive peace including full removal of all economic sanctions and full rehabilitation of Russia's relations with the West.
My view is if those two British aircraft carriers suddenly lost their propellers (which actually happened in 2022 - the gigantic propeller just fell off the Prince of Wales) and sank, then this war will come to a close much quicker.

Putin Fat dreams
