Umno and Harapan will 'die together' in KKB - PAS Youth chief

PAS Youth has predicted that BN and Pakatan Harapan will “die together” in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

According to its chief, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, this is because Umno’s “power-abuse disease” has infected its coalition partner.

“Good governance has gone down the drain. This means the ‘disease’, which previously gripped Umno, is fast spreading to Harapan.

“And this is barely two years into administration. Looks like this time, Umno and Harapan can die together.

“Live together and die together - this is true unity,” the Alor Setar MP wrote on Facebook today, referring to Umno’s colossal loss in recent polls as the former ruling party’s “demise”.

Afnan (above) further urged Umno members unhappy with the party’s leadership to vote for the Perikatan Nasional candidate in the by-election to “teach them a lesson”.

“In this by-election, (if) Umno members want to stem the spread of the disease, they must look for the remedy, which is PN,” he added.

‘Umno abused power’

A total of 40,226 Kuala Kubu Baharu voters are eligible to cast their ballots on May 11 to elect a new representative for the state seat.

The seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong last month.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party had shortlisted several names but not yet selected its candidate for the by-election.

Afnan also accused Umno of abusing its power when it administered the country.

He claimed the majority of civil servants who used to support Umno rejected the party in recent elections because it abused government agencies and machinery for its own gain, and disrespected the former.

“It was the price Umno had to pay for not respecting civil servants, and not differentiating between party and government affairs. This led to the destruction of the original functions of government agencies,” Afnan said.
