KYIV, April 27 — Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities in three regions today, damaging equipment and injuring at least one energy worker, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.
Galushchenko said on the Telegram messaging app that the Russian strikes targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine and the western regions of Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk.
DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, said its four thermal power stations were hit.
“The enemy again massively shelled the Ukrainian energy facilities,” DTEK said in a statement. “The company’s equipment was seriously damaged. At this very moment, energy workers are trying to eliminate the consequences of the attack.”
The company said there were casualties but provided no other details.
Since March 22, the Russian forces have ramped up their bombardments of the Ukrainian power sector, attacking thermal and hydropower stations and other energy infrastructure almost daily.
Ukraine has lost about 80 per cent of its thermal generation and about 35 per cent of its hydropower capacity, officials aid. Its energy system was already weakened by a Russian air campaign in the first winter of the war that Russia launched in February 2022.
Despite mild spring weather in recent weeks, Ukraine has faced an electricity deficit and the government had to introduce scheduled electricity cut-offs in several regions and turn to emergency electricity imports.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian air defence shot down 13 Russian missiles, said Governor Serhiy Lysak.
“Unfortunately, we could not avoid the consequences. Energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and Kryvyi Rih regions were damaged, fires broke out.”

For the first time in the 79 years since the Nazi surrender in 1945, Russia has been forced to CANCELL its Victory Day parade in Moscow.
ReplyDeleteRussia's super, super, super , super Sophisticated, super, super, super Powerful Air Defence system is unable to ensure Putin doesn't get humiliated by a Ukrainian air attack right during the parade.
Those who only follow or only believe pro-Russian media will not realise that in the last 5 months, Ukraine has managed to knock offline a substantial proportion of Russia's oil refining capacity, leading to severe petrol and diesel shortages within Russia, and reducing Russia's profitable exports of refined petroleum products exports to nearly Zero.
I'm ashamed to say, I have ever used Lukeoil brand lubricants in my organisation. Never again!
They are still available in Malaysia, because the Malaysian Government has turned a blind eye to Russian War Crimes, and refused to participate in sanctions against Russia.
Much of Russia's oil and gas fields are beyond reach of Ukraine, but much of Russia's refining capacity is in its industrialised SouthWestern part of the country, within range for UKRAINE to hit.
The huge industrial complexes are nearly impossible to destroy, but being full of combustible products, they get knocked off-line in spectacular manner.
Mfer, do u know what u r farting?
DeleteThe Russian isn't fighting just the Ukrainian, especially in these last few months of war. Disguised NATO militia r manning their imported weaponries targeting Russian targets.
Despite that, only limited & casual damages were inflicted while numerous counterattacks had destroyed many of these NATO units, both equipments & personnel!
Keep reading & spreading yr farts.
The truth will come out when the Ukraine signs within the dots to admit surrender!
