Tengku Zafrul is now in trouble for ‘negative’ statements on UMNO Selangor
INVESTMENT, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz is now in trouble with UMNO Selangor after he said the party in Selangor is bland and not in tune with the central leadership.
He suggested five ways to restore the glory of UMNO in Selangor after five days of resigning as the state’s UMNO Treasurer.
Selangor UMNO information head Datuk Dr Mohd Zaidi Md Zain said the accusations against Selangor UMNO, which is said to have not made any changes or progress since the last general elections and state polls, clearly have a specific motive to create a negative perception of the party in the state.
“Tengku Zafrul, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT), showed that he lacked information about the state’s UMNO political movement, which had taken steps to move forward after suffering its biggest defeat in the GE15,” said Mohd Zaidi.
He added that Tengku Zafrul seems to be alone and isolated from the political mainstream of Selangor UMNO.
“Tengku Zafrul political secretary Datuk Zainuri Mohd Zainal, who is also the UMNO Head of Klang Division was present at a meeting last night (April 6) and confirmed that he was not informed directly by Tengku Zafrul before the latter made the accusations.
“In addition, UMNO Kota Raja Division deputy head also confirmed that Tengku Zafrul never discussed this with the leadership of the division before making his statements.”
Moreover, UMNO Selangor is said to be conducting a thorough post-mortem on the double defeats in Selangor and is drawing up a new strategy.
He also advised Tengku Zafrul to stop making statements that could end up embarrassing himself and may also confuse party members.
