Police to quiz Tamrin Ghafar over blog post on DAP dominance

Police will question a former deputy prime minister’s son Tamrin Ghafar next Tuesday over his blog post predicting DAP’s future dominance in national politics.

“Tamrin is scheduled to give his statement to the police on April 16 at 10.30am,” his lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali told Free Malaysia Today.

Tamrin (above) is the son of the late Ghafar Baba.

In his blog post dated April 4, he said all Malays and Malay rulers must be aware that a disaster will strike them if DAP takes over.

In the post, titled “In 10 years DAP will become master”, he pointed out that DAP has the largest bloc of MPs in today’s federal government with 42 seats.

“Can we imagine the 22 percent of DAP ruling over 70 percent of the Malays in the Malay land?” he questioned.

It is unclear where he got the 22 percent from.

Yesterday, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim said in a post on X that he had called Tamrin to tone down the latter’s blog posts.

“Otherwise, Bukit Aman would come calling,” he said, referring to the police headquarters.

However, Zaid’s warning came too late as Tamrin informed him that he had already been summoned by Bukit Aman.

But the former law minister criticised the police’s move, saying he was surprised the cops would summon someone over a prediction.

He expressed curiosity over who had lodged a police report against Tamrin over the matter.

“Making a prediction should not be a criminal offence.

“Surely, DAP would not get terribly upset with that narrative to lodge a report,” Zaid said.

He also dismissed concerns of Umno getting involved in the matter as “they are already busy with the stocking and the shoe soles.”
