Like mentor Dr Mahathir, Azmin finds fault with his successor

YOURSAY | ‘The Selangor state election is going to be your political Waterloo.’

Azmin regrets nominating Amirudin as successor

Kilimanjaro: Former Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali is no angel. He chose Amirudin Shari as his successor for political reasons.

He may have thought of Amirudin as his shadow but politicians are strange bedfellows. The biggest loser is Azmin and he deserves it.

There was talk that other coalition partners, particularly the DAP and Amanah would not have supported Azmin’s attempts to become prime minister.

To claim that he knows about politics is a joke. Azmin (above) knows next to nothing about politics.

He was in line to become the president of PKR eventually and maybe even become prime minister one day, but his impatience and insincerity were his undoings.

He played it wrongly in the Selangor menteri besar saga.

This allowed Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli to chip away at Azmin’s advantage.

Having visionary advisers is important. Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had narrow-minded advisers around him and his one-lifetime opportunity just slipped through his fingers.

Mazilamani: How right you are Azmin, for your error of judgement to have appointed Amirudin Shari as your successor.

How do you think Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his family, PKR and Gombak voters felt about you for your expansive and unforgivable litany of betrayals?

You nearly destroyed a man and his family for the trust he placed in you. You are just despicable.

You also sold your soul to other bidders all for position and empowerment.

Why do you think the Gombak voters rejected you in the last general election, for they were too human to tolerate or forgive you?

The fact that you are today speaking ill about Amirudin shows that he is an adversary you cannot defeat and deliver the promise of returning Selangor to Perikatan Nasional and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Selangor state election is going to be your political Waterloo.

BOBBYO: Why was Mahathir rejected by the people? Did the voters not consider his contributions to the nation for the past 22 years?

He was rejected, even in his home state, by the Malays, who supported him at one time.

He was rejected because he betrayed the voters by being involved in the Sheraton move Azmin. He became a traitor.

So, Azmin, parroting all your achievements or contributions, is not going to make the voters return.

Neither is attacking Amirudin. The stigma of betraying the Selangorians is too strong. It stinks to high heaven.

So forget about returning to rule Selangor.

Hmmmmmmmm: He has learned well from Mahathir. He even sounds like him, blaming his successor.

Can you please ask Mahathir which of his two successors he was happy with? He is the only one who is perfect.

Azmin mentioned that he brought the Amazon Web Services (AWS) project into Selangor when he was the international trade and industry minister. AWS had initially wanted to set up shop in Malacca.

Isn't Malacca also part of Malaysia?

Azmin is supposed to look after the whole country when he was a minister and not only look after one state.

It would have been different if AWS had initially wanted to invest in another country but Azmin managed to bring them into Malaysia.

Appum: Azmin, nobody will disagree with me. Outwardly, you look like a handsome politician but looks are superficial and don't mean a thing in real life.

You, pretty boy, are already a branded political entity. Branded for being a low-down political traitor to the country, people, and state.

You are notorious for treacherous political moves like the “Kajang Move”, the “Sheraton Move” and now “Regret Move” which does not put you in a good place.

The first rejection is your loss in Gombak, in your powerful constituency, and, defeated by the person who you labelled as a non-performer.

The people of Selangor are all well-informed and politically savvy.

Your statements of regret during this hour of the elections will only rebound back to you negatively.

If you dare stand in Gombak again, you will regret that move forever in your political life.

Why not, pretty boy, move to Kelantan and work with PAS to improve Kelantan as you claim you have done great for Selangor?

Freethinker: Azmin, development expenditure for the good of people is lauded.

Perhaps in your arguments about where the spending goes to and how the development expenditure has benefited the people (not the developer)?

But as a layman Selangorian, this spending was not felt, at least not where I stay.

The only legacy you left the Selangorian is your betrayal through the Sheraton move that brought the collapse of the government which the rakyat voted for within 22 months.

You were Selangorians' biggest regret!

DontGetMeWrong: Azmin you were too eager to become the new blue-eyed boy for Mahathir.

Without hesitation, you took up the international trade and industry minister post offered to you by Mahathir.

Luckily for Selangorians you left and Amirudin has done a splendid job. Better than you could have ever done.

You have no “real bullets” to attack except bad-mouthing. Your attack on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Amirudin has no substance.

The rakyat can see through all your lies. You and your team will be annihilated in Selangor.

IndigoTrout2522: Azmin regrets Amirudin refusing to follow him to betray the party. He also regrets it because he was trounced by Amirudun for the Gombak parliamentary seat.

He will have another regret after the upcoming state election. Azmin’s record as menteri besar and international trade and industry minister was indeed disappointing.

He further regretted it because Amirudin is doing a better job than him. Azmin now is cosying back to his “mentor” when he has nowhere else to turn to.

Justice: Was Azmin planted by Mahathir to wreck Anwar politically and to stop Anwar from becoming prime minister? It is the people who decide.

Power can be given and also taken back. The people had decided in the 15th general election when Mahathir lost his deposit in Langkawi and Azmin lost in Gombak. To their horror, Anwar became prime minister.

Both may be politically buried or forgotten.

Just a Malaysian: For 20 years, Azmin was the de facto leader of “reformasi”. He talked about fairness and multiculturalism. He represented the iconic Malay leader of the future. But...now listening to his speech made me numb. So please don't talk about regret… many of us have lots of it.. thanks to you.
