Is PN goading followers to undermine royalty, asks Umno man

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has been accused of inciting its supporters to follow caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanudi Md Nor’s antics.

In a statement today, Umno supreme council member Razlan Rafii said PAS’ official Facebook page had described Sanusi - who was charged yesterday for making statements that could incite disloyalty towards the royal institution - as a “hero”.

This was in reference to a post on PAS’ Facebook page yesterday which included the hashtag #SanusiHeroMalaya.

Razlan (above) also took issue with PAS Youth deputy chief Afnan Hamimi, who said that silencing Sanusi will result in “dozens more Sanusis being born”.

“Is PN inviting Malaysians to follow in Sanusi’s footsteps and undermine the royal institution?

“I urge (the authorities) to arrest and charge everyone who is inciting the public who are against the laws that are meant to punish Sanusi for insulting the royalty,” said Razlan.

Sanusi faces two charges under the Sedition Act 1948 for his July 11 speech in Selayang, Selangor, where he allegedly made errant remarks on the Malay rulers, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Meanwhile, PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that his coalition’s core policy was to uphold and defend the royal institution and Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy.

“In upholding this spirit, I also pray that my friend Sanusi will receive justice in court.

“I urge all Malaysians to pray for Sanusi’s safety and maintain calm,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin said he sympathised with Sanusi and accused Pakatan Harapan of going against its word to abolish the Sedition Act 1948.
