MIC will not accept any deputy minister post

MIC will not accept any deputy minister appointments by the Anwar Ibrahim administration.

In a statement today, MIC secretary-general RT Rajasekaran said this was the collective decision made by the party’s central working committee today.

During the election on Nov 19, MIC fielded 10 candidates for Parliament.

The only one to win a seat was MIC deputy president M Saravanan, who retained the Tapah parliamentary constituency.

Meanwhile, the MIC leadership also congratulated Anwar for being appointed as the 10th prime minister.

The leadership also voiced support for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree to back the unity government.

"We hope that the prime minister will be able to fulfil his responsibilities in a manner that is just to all races," said Rajasekaran.
