Batang Kali tragedy: Another body found, death toll rises to 24
As of 5pm, the authorities have recovered another body from the site of the landslide at the Father's Organic Farm campsite in Batang Kali, Selangor - bringing the total number of fatalities to 24.
According to the latest update by the Royal Malaysia Police, the remains were that of a girl.
The police’s previous update was at 1.40pm when the remains of a woman and a boy were found.
With the latest findings, the death toll now includes five boys, two girls, four men, and 13 women. Fifty-four of the 94 individuals at the site were found safe, including seven who were reportedly injured, while nine others are still missing.
All bodies found will be sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem and identification.
Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief Suffian Abdullah said Father's Organic Farm campsite operators will be summoned for further investigation over the incident.
The search and rescue (SAR) operation at the site of the tragedy is now on its second day. The operation resumed at 7.30am today.
Earlier today, The Vibes quoted Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis saying that today's SAR operation will be concentrated at the Farmview and Riverside areas of the campsite.
