Blogger defiant after cops issue 'wanted' notice over 'sedition'
Hussein Abd Hamid, who runs the Steadyaku47 blog, has issued a defiant message after police issued a notice seeking information about him.
In a blog post titled "fightback", Hussein said he will not be silenced.
"PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) knows that I am in Melbourne and if they are any good, they know where in Melbourne, what suburb, what street, what building in the street and even what unit number in the building that I am staying in.
"They know I am a permanent resident of Australia and have been for three decades. They know there is an extradition treaty between Australia and Malaysia but it covers only criminal activities, not sedition.
"And what they are accusing me of, is sedition. So why put out that press statement?" he asked.
Wanted over article
Last Friday, police issued a press statement (above) with Hussein's picture and full name.
The statement said Hussein is wanted in relation to a police report lodged against him over an article he wrote.
The article purportedly insulted the Pahang royalty.
He was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 for committing acts that have seditious tendencies, carrying a punishment of up to RM5,000 fine or imprisonment of up to three years or both.
He is also being investigated under Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 for misuse of network facilities which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 or imprisonment of up to one year or both.

Careful Ah Mok.... just blogging on this issue could get you into trouble....wakakaka
ReplyDeleteIf only the police were so diligent in the Indira Gandhi and the missing pastors cases!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, they (police) are so garang because they probably know the Australian authorities will give them (police) the finger should a request for extradition be filed.
This is mere posturing probably to please royalty that they are doing something.
