“There are traitors among us waiting to topple Aminuddin” - Loke

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has alleged that elements within the Negeri Sembilan Umno leadership sought to topple the state administration led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, describing the alleged move as a betrayal of the constitutional monarchy.
Loke has accused unnamed individuals of attempting to bring down the Negeri Sembilan government by withdrawing support for Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, describing the alleged move as a betrayal of both the state administration and its constitutional monarchy.
Speaking at Pakatan Harapan's announcement of candidates for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, Loke alleged that those involved had sought to exploit internal challenges instead of working collectively to preserve political stability.
"They chose to stab us in the back, withdraw support for Tok Min (Aminuddin) and try to bring down the Malay-led government in Negeri Sembilan.
"That person is a traitor and has betrayed the constitutional system in Negeri Sembilan. If that person wants to become Menteri Besar, we will fight with everything we have. I do not even need to mention that person's name," he said.
Loke, who is also Pakatan Harapan Negeri Sembilan deputy chairman, did not identify the individual or group behind the allegations.
His remarks came during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Pakatan Harapan election director Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shaari and the coalition's information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
Shifting the campaign's focus to institutional stability, Loke reaffirmed DAP's commitment to upholding the Federal Constitution, Malaysia's constitutional monarchy and Negeri Sembilan's unique traditional institutions, including the Undang Yang Empat and the Tunku Besar of Tampin.
He cautioned party leaders, members and campaign workers against making remarks or jokes that could be interpreted as disrespectful towards the state's customary institutions, stressing that DAP would not tolerate conduct that undermines them.
"We uphold the Undang Yang Empat and we respect that system. I want to remind our colleagues, campaign workers and party members to watch what they say. Do not joke or make light of Negeri Sembilan's customary system," he said.
Loke urged voters to judge Pakatan Harapan on its record in government, arguing that the coalition had delivered sustained political stability, strengthened the state's financial reserves, attracted major domestic and foreign investments and expanded welfare initiatives benefiting the people.
"Like Tok Min said, many investments have come in, major companies have established operations in Negeri Sembilan, a new railway station has been built in Seremban and development has reached other districts.
"This is how we work and govern in Negeri Sembilan, and we hope the people will continue to support the Pakatan Harapan administration.
"We must reject racial politics," he said.
Loke said Pakatan Harapan's campaign would continue to centre on the coalition's governance record and its pledge to provide a stable, progressive and inclusive state government capable of sustaining economic growth and improving public welfare.
The Chennah incumbent also called on the coalition's election machinery to intensify efforts to communicate the government's achievements to voters while rejecting what he described as politics driven by hatred and slander, which he said offered no benefit to the future of Negeri Sembilan. - July 15, 2026
